power steering issue.

pump is making noise. it is intermittent, but it is there. what have you guys done as far as replacement? rebuilt unit or good used? i have decided not to use reman stuff anymore as most of the parts i have bought have been junk. yes they have lifetime guarantee but i don't want to be replacing parts every 2-3 months. a new chinese radiator blew up after 6 months; bought an OE one.

Seems I recall some guys having luck quieting down the pump by flushing the fluid and cleaning out the screen.

No. You just suck up what's in there with a turkey baster and then pull one of the lines and pump out and refill. There are step-by-step write-ups somewhere here on this.

open up the power steering fluid. it should be red, it takes ATF so it should be red. if its really black, it might just be better you take it all out. It should quiet it down if there is nothing wrong with the pump.

I just went to the dealer picked 2 quarts of ATF for 7 bucks each. basically same idea

just a different looking reservoir, the lower connector is the supply line, the upper hose going to the reservoir is the return. remove the return some how get that fluid into a bucket. start pushing fresh fluid turn the wheel.
