I don't see what is silly about the engine swap, the 3RZ is the upgraded version of the R series engines. Think 22RE with more power, better gas mileage, OBD-2 and no headgasket/timing chain worries. These things eat 30 psi (with forged internals) and pump out over 1,000 HP. Try that with a 22RE or a 3VZ/5VZ.
my buddy picked up a 81 pickup and he's going to try this swap down the road. I'm sure I will be helping him i think it has a 20r right now.
