Hey all, I currently traded in my 16 SR5 for ‘19 TRDORP… I Purchased some 17x7 trd wheels and some bfg ko2 265/70 tires... I had the same set up on my 16 with spider trax 1.25 inch spacers and it looked great but I got tons of nicks all over the side of my car from rocks spitting out of the tires because they stuck out a little too far.... So my question is, is there a reputable company out there that makes spacers for the 4Runner that are more like .5 inches or .75 inches?? I looked online but I don’t recognize any of the company names and I wonder if anybody has any experience with something other than spider trax ! Thanks!

This is the problem. There are a few solutions. One is to cut the studs slightly shorter. IIRC the front studs are less than 1" and the rear are about 1.125" so the rear are the primary issue.
Or... I probably shouldn't recommend this - but you could also machine the wheels slightly so the wheel mount surface has a recess for the end of the studs. Many Toyota wheels have this area already in the casting. The limited 20" wheels for example already have a space in the casting. In fact I think every Toyota OEM wheel I can remember ever seeing has the recesses in the casting - except for the Trail Edition wheels.
I have a set of 1" spacers. This is what I did. I machined the wheels to have a recess for the studs. I have a CNC mill and machined them myself. You could do it with a trim router by hand if you know what you're doing. Machining aluminum with a low speed router by hand can work pretty well, but it would be kinda hard to do very accurately.

Yessir. They're the same as Spidertrax except they offer more sizes.
I'm kind of shocked I've never seen anybody that has replaced the studs with extended studs and used a hubcentric spacer without built in studs to make any width you could want.
It's how I did it on my Mustangs in the past but I've never seen that as an option for the 4Runner for some reason.
