Radio resets every time car turns off (aftermarket headunit)

So lately my radio keeps resetting every time I turn the car off. Clock goes to 1:00 AM and presets are all erased (kinda annoying). It's an older aftermarket eclipse headunit. Maybe 7-10 years old. The previous owner had it installed along with the sub.

I tried pulling it out to see if it maybe had some kind of small battery or something to keep the memory but couldn't find anything.

Could it be caused by the car itself and not the head unit? I checked for fuses and such but didn't find anything. Just wondering if anyone might be able to help me out.

Theres a wire behind the deck with constant power. Im assuming it currently does not. Check your fuses. You can check for the lack of constant power by grabbing a multimeter, pulling out the radio, and checking if the red wire on the adapter harness has 12 volts.

Thanks, I'll try to check for the constant power tomorrow. As far as fuses, I looked next to the steering wheel and under the hood and didn't see anything related to the radio. Am I missing something?

The constant power line will usually have a fuse wired into it. I'd check that first.

Actually the Yellow wire should be hot (12v) all the time. This will keep your memory. Red is commonly the ignition lead.

My mistake, i ment to say yellow. lol. Thats what happens when you type too fast.

Yes it sounds like you have the wire that is supposed to be constant 12V wired to a switched 12V circuit.

Edit: Just re-read and saw that it just started. It's probably a blown fuse or the unswitched power wire worked loose.

Thanks for the responses. I'll check for an in-line fuse tomorrow. It was working in the past so its either a fuse or a loose wire.
