Re-build your own? (King or Icon)

Has anyone done a rebuild of their own King or Icon shocks? Trying to determine skill/effort to decide if I can/should do myself or send out. It's my DD so sending out is rough since I've either got to have a hot swap or I'm off the road for 1-2 weeks (no one local rebuilds that I can find)

Did you hit the dirt tracks up there? I wonder if some of those guys do rebuilds on their racing shocks. You might get some good advice.
There is a family locally where I live (1hr from Daytona) that has raced ARCA for 40+ years. My buddy had them tune his Kings. I called and they said as long as there is no damage they would rebuild them.

Rebuilding shocks is easy. Tons of write ups that will let you know any specialty tools you need and get a grasp of what is needed. If you have the skill set to unbolt the shocks, then you have the skills to rebuild the shocks and do it all in a day.

That's helpful but misses the point. Cant be without for the duration of sending out/sending back.

If its not a "work" truck, have you thought abput getting a rental?

You could always start with one of the rear shocks (easiest to remove) and fiddle around with it for a full weekend if needed. Do each shock 1 weekend at a time if you find it's easy.
