"Miracle in the Andes" by Nando Parrado
This is about the plane that went down in the Andes in the early 70's and they survived for 72 days and trekked 60 miles to get help after know one found them.
It is written by one of the survivors and the one that trekked to get help.
After you read this you won't complain about how hot/cold it is or that you are starving, we have not a clue how bad it could be.
BTW yes this is the plane that went down and the people that ate the flesh of the dead bodies to survive. and thay made a movie named "Alive" in the 90's I think. I never saw the movie.
The book is more from Nando's view and what went through his mind and thought processes on top of a 1st person account of the entire story.
I remember the event as a kid ( people eating dead bodies to survive) but not the whole story.
It was a rugby team going from Uruguay to Chile for a match all young 20's men a few woman all wearing summer clothes that crash 11,000ft in the Andes mountians of the 45 only 29 survive the crash others die in a Avalanche that suffocates them in the fusalage that they slept in at night in the 30 below weather in summer clothes. only 16 survive the 72 days in the Andes only because 2 of them the author being one of them walks to Chile to get help.
Do yourself a favor and read this one you won't ba able to put it down.
