Did you purchase the 4runner new or used, has it been it any rear end accidents?

I ask because I purchased a used 06 4runner and my gf noticed driving behind me that one of my tail lights led wasn't as bright as the other. I pulled the dimmer tail light out to check the connections and low and behold it was an aftermarket tail light. I replaced it with a brand new oem tail light and it fixed the problem.

I would start off by taking out the dimmer tail light and giving everything a once over. Good luck!

I will take it back apart and look a little closer. Everything on the 4runner looks like new but someone could have done a really good job. I already checked voltage and everything is exactly the same so you could be right about aftermarket. Thanks

Thanks good to know

Yeah, I specified to my parent (who wanted to buy me LED taillamps for the 4Runner as an Xmas gift since I'm not easy to shop for) that they had to be Toyota units. I've seen a lot of aftermarket units and they are noticeably dimmer than factory. My guess is they use a cheaper LED diode to cut costs among other things.
