Recovery rings

I haven't noticed recovery rings mentioned.
Is anyone using these in place of, or in conjunction with, snatch blocks/pulleys?

Pretty common in boat rigging. Tried and true solution for sailboat ropes that are used in similar ways to winching. Usually I see them cheaper from boat suppliers than 4x4 vendors. It's a simple item. Not sure they should cost more than about $10 each.
