Slash-X owner, Sacramento man killed in head-on crash Desert Dispatch

BARSTOW • The owner of a local cafe and a Sacramento man were both killed Thursday afternoon after a head-on collision between the two men’s vehicles on Highway 247 near Barstow.
According to a report from the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Department, 41-year-old Abdul Formoli of Sacramento was driving a Toyota two-door northbound on Highway 247 about five miles from Barstow when he drifted onto the southbound side around 2:25 p.m. Slash-X Ranch Cafe owner Brian Lynn of Barstow was driving southbound with his wife in his Ford F150 pickup truck.
Formoli’s vehicle struck Lynn’s truck head-on and both vehicles then caught fire, according to the report. Formoli was confirmed dead at the scene and Lynn was flown to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he died at 4:38 p.m. Lynn’s wife was treated at Barstow Community Hospital for her injuries.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
