Rough Country Lift Kit

Hello, recently bought a 97 4Runner and wanted to lift it. I looked around and talked with a few 4x4 shops in my area, everybody's prices were about the same around $1800 - $2500. Then looking on the internet I found a lift kit by Rough Country for about $250. My question, is this a a good company or should I save up and get one of the more expensive kits?

If you can link the lift you found we could say for sure, but I bet it's a spacer lift and it'll ride like garbage or it's a body lift and won't change your handling characteristics at all.

Welcome. From what i have seen it seems the cheap way to lift it is bilstein 5100's and i think fj springs in the back or OME makes rear lift springs. One of my buddies on here that i go wheeling with has this setup on his 3rd gen. I think he also has a 2" body lift and a 1.5" spacer in the rear. Not 100% sure though but i think that is his setup

Theres so many choices... Spend a lot of time researching other peoples experiences before you spend the cash, otherwise you'll end up spending twice as much..

I personally would highly recommend against it. Rough country is a budget lift and your shocks will most likely go in about 20,000 miles. If you want affordable, for about 550 you can do a tundra feint assembly with 906 OME's and bilstein shocks in the back. Great ride and about 2-3 inches of lift depending on where you set the shocks.
