S&B Intake box cover

I'm curious if anyone is running their intake with the cover off and have noticed any improvement: fuel economy and/or performance?

I never noticed any fuel mileage improvement despite my likely anal hand calculated mileage at every fill-up and modest driving style. I'm also disappointed in my '19 ORPS WOT top end performance (compared to my '08 Sport) and wondered if it could be air starvation?

You'd be pulling hot engine day heat in without the cover. In theory the ECU would reduce the amount of fuel it commands for since hot air is less dense but I don't see it changing MPGs.

From what I remember in my 2010 Tacoma, top end performance is better with this dual VVT-i engine. The restriction is in the heads, these just aren't performance engines.

If there was anything to be gained from removing the cover of the S&B Intake... they'd be selling an overpriced "Upgrade Kit" that consisted of nothing but cheap tools for prying it off.
