I'm a big Musclecar guy. I've had my 68 Firebird since I was 17 and I'm 44 today. I've had a few other cars here and there but my firebird has always remained my #1. Mainly because my Firebird has an early May-68 build date and I was born in April 1968 so I've held onto it for all these years as we kind of grow old together.
As I said I've had a few other cars in between while the Firebird has been restored or just stored away. I've always loved big block Chevelles but never owned one personally. My good buddy owns a nasty 69 Chevelle SS with a worked 396, a 4 speed, and a 12 bolt rear with 3:42 gears. It's red with a white gut and a perfect car. About 2-3 months ago he tells me in confidence that he's selling his Chevelle because he found a guy with a 70 Nova SS with a GM crate 572 big block and a Tremec 6 speed trans. He HAS to sell his Chevelle in order to get the Nova. So of course I go to my wife proposing that I buy the Chevelle....her response, only if you sell the Firebird first. Well we all know that's just not happening.
So on to plan "B". I know that my dad is retired and always loved Muscle and he has a lot of money that he's just not doing anything about so I start working on him. Long story short after 2 months of back and forth and a lot of conversations between my dad, me and my friend the Chevelle is now in my dad's garage.
My joke with my dad is that I will be driving him to his attorney's office ASAP to change his will and that the Chevelle goes right to me. HA HA. Honestly I'm just glad that my dad has a cool car to cruise with in his retirement. Plus my buddy got the Nova and my dad will be joining my group of car buddies and me this spring/summer at a lot of local shows and cruise nights. Check out my dad's new Chevelle.
