So what does it take to get banned around here?

Back story. Got banned from another site (wont say where), for 30 days. No explanation, no rule I violated, just a GTFO for 30 days.

Wouldn't it be nice if the reason you were banned was made available? If I am going to spend the time on a site, to talk, argue, debate, contribute, browse sponsors, (you know, grown up things) wouldn't it seem reasonable to better understand infractions?

Curious minds.

You must have offended a snowflake. If they actually gave you a reason, it would have just been something like, “you have violated our code of conduct.”

We have rules that you had to agree to follow when joining.
Go reread them.
If you really want to know, do/post something stupid.
You'll get the reason in the Ban notice.



Most of the Moderators here are pretty lenient until you really cross the line. Some are not.

If I did something blatantly wrong, tell me. I'll apologize and move on. Which I will once July 15th comes around and my ban is lifted.

Do you really want to go back to a site that isn't adult enough to even engage on whatever the perceived slight was? And then beg and plea forgiveness from those same people? They're not worth your time, and certainly not the type of people I would beg forgiveness from.

Every time I've been offensive on a site I've been contacted by a mod. Dialog ensued, and so far I've never been banned. Asked to remove material and warned about future offenses, yes. Apologized and discussed with offended parties, yes. Banned without explanation, never.

Maybe any administration? Seems the talk of politics revolving around cars, gas, CAFE standards, green energy, nanny equipment in cars, insurance ect is forbidden. But the actual truth of owning a 4Runner or any car involves much politics.

Having an opinion is part of adulting and if we can not have discussion in an open and engaging way, whats the point of any forum? Insults happen on here all the time, but the ban hammer doesn't get swung (think light bars before winches, mall crawlers, et al).

It seems to come down to personal moderator political views as to what does or does not happen. Rename forums to Q&A's and not allow anything more than a question to be asked with the moderator answering best as she/he can and no reply is better suited to our current crop of adults IMO.

I'm sure I will get banned if I say our current administration is (insert your verb here), so I wont.

Being relatively new to Toyota but not offroading, mods, builds, overlanding... I appreciate what this place has to offer. Now where's the next group buy?!?!

Yeah I believe I got permanent ban from what I believe is same site you're talking about. They're more L the Fraud Book over there! Didn't call anyone other then being a troll & stating fact about current situations(I believe the owner is very pro for them)

I’ve been banned for life at another forum. The forum started and continued for several years as a friendly off road exploration based forum. Then morphed into a You Tube conspiracy theory channel. Suddenly most of the posts disappeared and members banned. The forum has changed into what appears to be bots making complimentary posts about how great the owner and his family are.

I am a member of subaruoutback.org and it seems well moderated. I’ve seen threads in which someone goes on a rant about something controversial, then the moderators warn and then lock a thread for a period of time then reopen it. I don’t know if anyone has been banned.

I am a member of three other regional forums that were once very popular (late 1990s to around 2015). Nowadays everyone must be banned because activity has dropped to near zero in the case of one, and less than 10 posts per month on the others.
