St Elmo... Tin Cup Monday 8/27

This is short notice and during the week but I thought I would post it.

I am planning a trip to St Elmo/ Tin Cup on monday 8/27, Leaving at dark 30 in the morning. Not sure what trails yet but I want to check out the mines and such. Going to do a over night in the 4Runner and head back sometime the next day.

No real structure to the trip, just going where I end up for a couple of days.

Anyone interested in going let me know.

Darn it! I just installed my Toytec Ultimate lift and am in desperate need of an alignment... probably should head to the office, too on Monday, but I love that area!

I figured being in the work week will be difficult so I dont really expect anyone to be available.

I am in need of some "no responsibility" time so I took some vacation days. I have my granddaughter with me on the weekend runs so I have to be responsible (at least some what responsible).

How did the lift come out? That is the direction I want to go so I am interested to see how it looks.

I really like the Toytec Ultimate so far! I haven't really driven it anywhere due to poor alignment... just up and down my street a few times to hit some dips between adjustments. I also did a short run on a wash-boarded dirt road near my house and it felt pretty nice! I really can't wait to get this thing aligned!

I didn't know anything about the event in Lakewood.

I saw the Rising Sun event late last week and posted it to the forum but it was Friday or Thursday when I posted it so you did not have a lot of opportunity to see it. It was a ok turn out. There were a lot of older Cruisers there and several 4 runners.

Think about getting Firestones lifetime alignment. They will negotiate the price down a little if you ask and it is good to be able to get it realigned after a trail run if you want.

I dont give any reason for needing the alignment. They told me when I bought it to come in any time I felt it was needed.

Besides, there is a series of 8 manhole covers that are above street level right in front of the store i use. That alone will kill the alignment.

Yes but things changed from what I originaly planned.
My wife and I went up Wednesday.
St Elmo is a neat little place. the ground squirrls are very tame. There must have been 50 of them running all over.

We took Tin Cup Pass from St Elmo to Tin Cup and had lunch at Tin Cup. another interesting town.

Tin Cup Pass East of the divide is easy and a good driver could do it in 2 wheel drive. West of the divide is still pretty easy except it is very rocky. Small rocks so nothing technical just bumpy. I was in 4 hi all the time.

I will post some pictures after I get them off the camera.

Overall it is a neat area and there is plenty of camping spots.

I would definitely be interested in some pics of the area, as that whole area is on my "to do" list. You guys just get all the cool trails!

St Elmo is all on video as is most of the trip. I put the camera on the dash and ran it most of the trip.
