Staying warm while sleeping in T4R

Lots of great recommendations in here. When I started camping in the T4R I wanted a way to block out light from windows and came across this company: Window Covers: Toyota 4runner 5th Gen. 2010-Current – Strawfoot Handmade

I bought a full set and love them. Blocks out the light and it was nice and warm in the truck due to the window insulation. There is a great review of these here: Trail Impressions: Strawfoot Handmade Window Covers - Trail4R.com

Ditto... Scissors and $30 will net a whole set for the entire vehicle. I made my own and use suction cups to hold them against the glass. Not worth $800...

They're located in Santa Cruz, email the company and see if you can do a local pickup deal to save some money like I did.

No doubt that aluminum foil bubble will work, but I tell you what: the magnets and insulation in the strawfoot covers make a big difference. Takes all of 3 minutes to snap*snap*snap them onto the windows and they stay put. The addition of the window flap so you can have a window cracked and allow airflow is also a nice feature. Not saying you can't accomplish this using the bubble foil, this user seems to have done a great job (see last picture in this post): https://www.toyota-4runner.org/3581059-post14.html

That full set does not seem to include the windshield.
Weathertech has a full set of the sun protectors for about 160.

To each their own of course. And yes, you are correct that they don't currently make a windshield cover. We used a standard cover at the time but now I use a CoverCraft windshield cover which works great: 404 | CarCoverUSA

an idea: make a 4Runner winter skirt? especially if you have sliders and front/rear bumpers with recovery/shackle loops for attaching it around all sides i could see this being pretty easy to setup and worth the time for those consistently using the 4R for sleeping in the cold.

In addition to all of the above get a couple of the Zippo hand warmers. One in the bottom of your bag by your feet and another in a pocket somewhere will make allll the difference. Don’t buy their little containers of fluid either, go to REI or Walmart etc and grab some generic camping fuel- for 2 or 3 bucks more you can get a huge can!
