Stock length brake-lines: Factory vs SS

It appears SS (stop-tech) are 1/2 the cost.
85 combined vs 170

I know the theoretical advantages of SS are more for race applications and thus they're costmetic. But given the price difference is there a good reason NOT to do them? Toyota quality, yada, yada?

SS are fine. They give an overall firmer pedal. Never had an issue with them.

when I do my TBU I'm going to also do ss lines. Every vehicle (including motorcycle's) I have put them on I have noticed a firmer pedal ( or hand grip)

I wonder how much of that instant firmer pedal is actually just fresh fluid(I doubt most of us are doing every 2-4 year replacements). Lines shouldn't have much flex.

Regardless sounds like SS get the nod.

You notice the firmer lines with 4-wheel disk vehicles much more than ones with rear drums... but it is still noticable on the 4Runner. (just did SS lines a few weeks ago) Even the wife noticed the difference when she drove it, without prompting.

I don't think fresh fluid makes a difference to pedal feel in normal driving--water is equally uncompressible until it boils--,but the fresh bleed you do when changing it might well have that effect.

I didn't know that about ss lines, that must be why so many use them. I've never liked how my gas pedal is as stiff or stiffer than my brakes, so I might try this later on down the road.
