I know it's been talked to death about transmissions and diffs but I still don't get it. Here's my problem, while out on the trails I went to turn around (hard packed snow very slippery) anyways while backing up a slight upgrade I found my rear wheels slipping and I looked at my front wheel driver side and it wasn't spinning. I wasn't able to back up anymore. Seemed that the wheel had traction but wouldn't turn...i tried 4low...nothing..tried locking the Centre diff, still nothing. What's up with that. Kinda embarrassing to be brought to a halt like that.. Can anyone help explain why,is something not working properly..once again sorry for opening old wounds and thanks for the patients.

Sounds to me like you were already in 4Hi, so while your back wheels were slipping the fronts should have gotten some power due to the torsen limited slip center differential. Now if the passenger side front wheel was slipping that would be why the driver side wheel was not moving, the open differential will send power to the wheel with the least resistance (slipping one). If you haven't experienced ATRAC before, you have to get your RPMs up to around 2K before it will kick in. ATRAC is the feature where the brakes are applied to the spinning wheel, likely the front passenger so that the driver side wheel with traction can get you moving. Essentially makes the vehicle act like it has a limited slip front/rear differential. It takes some getting uses to to get the RPMs up so that ATRAC kicks in.
