Stupid tire/wheel/lift question

Hi all, I'm new to modern toyots (been an 80's era man until today) and am having a hard time deciphering all of the info on lifts and tires. I'm new to this forum as well...so hello!

I just bought a 2005 SR5 V6, totally stock and mechanically perfect, 140,000mi.

I've always purchased projects, so this has been hard for me ;<). Not to mention, it's gold hwell:. But, times change and we have a need for reliability and are currently living in a new city with no garage or friends with a garage. The 4 runner seemed really impressive despites it's stock soccer mom look.

So, to the meat of the question, I have some fairly new bfg ruggen terrain 285/75/16s (32.8x 11.2). My new T4R has 17 inch rims.

1. Can I fit 16 inch rims on this thing (seems I should be able to)?

2. If so, would an OME lift create enough space for these tires?...would I need to use spacers? All the threads I've checked list R17 tire dimensions and I'm easily confused and I'd like to avoid cutting metal to fit tires.

Any advice welcome, and again, sorry to start a new post on this...I figured this serves as an intro to this forum. I've only use Ih8mud and yotatech before.

1. SR5, yes 16's will fit, if it were a sport or some limited with the larger rotors, no it wouldn't, SR5's have the smaller rotor so yes 16's will work.

2. You will more than likely have to move the fender liner forward some. And take off the mud flaps. If you run spacers, then you may have to do some cutting. If you do not run spacers you will possibly be ok with the removal and moving the liner.

comparing to others, when you see a 17" wheel vehicle their 285/70/17 is the exact same size as your 285/75/16

I should be working, but this is alot more fun.

Also 285/65/18 is the same as well. Here is MOMO with OME's in the front.

for your calipers, check the casting - 13WH = bigger 13WG = smaller (good for 16s)

2nd this. This is the easiest way to verify. Never know of someone swapped or installed different calipers/rotors at some point.

I'm not too worried about modified/changed breaks. This rig was owned by a soccer mom and for the last year a young family that hasn't even taken it on forest service roads...bout as stock as stock gets. But I'll check anyway.

I've been trying to find a pic of a 4x4 with just the OME lift and 33 inch tires...anybody know of one?

After readin momo's thread I notcied he added UCAs and was a 2x4. I'd rather not add the expense of UCA's at this point, so I'm still concerned about the tires stuffing the wheel wells.

Keep researching, go to google and type 285/70/17 4runner then images! Tons of different ways to look at find some! OME's vs toytec ultimate etc are all basically the same heights, just different rides.

We are not worried about you modifying brakes! We are stating that different 4runners have different size rotors. If urs might have the big rotors, 16" wheels won't work. Being an SR5 changes are your good, but never know.

Momo as well as many others went/drove for along time with stock UCA's.

I did, actually did it a week before I put the tires on. Not sure if I would have had to or not. Just thought I might as well do it, also trimmed some plastic too, and after install had to cut a little more. Well worth it in my opinion.
