Subaru Crosstrek or Porsche Cayenne?

Hello fellow 4Runner lovers,

Since my manual 99 4Runner just turned over 300k, it's time to add another capable manual SUV to the stable. Trying to nail down a decision between a manual Porsche Cayenne or a Subaru Crosstrek.

This is where I see the differences now:

Crosstrek: can get a more recent model year with low mileage, low-powered, good predicted reliability for a '22-23.

Cayenne: powerful engine, but high cost of maintenance, and 10-11 years old.

Anyone here own a manual version of these two models that can share their experiences with me? What do you love and hate?

Seriously though, I’d prefer a new/newer Crosstrek as a daily driver.

High cost of maintenance doesn't begin to describe it.

Unless you consider $5000+ transmission rebuild routine maintenance.

If you're going to own a Cayenne between 80k and l30k, transmission rebuild IS not uncommon.

NOT including a clutch job.

Or how about $3000 for new brake pads and rotors?

Does your Cayenne have air shocks? Put $3000 to $5000 aside now to get ready for they go bad.

You've been warned.
