Sway my decision... postpone road trip to Ouray/Telly?

Dudes... Ive been planning this trip for 6 months now. I've been wanting to hit the trails in Ouray / Telluride / Silverton area for a while.

My rig JUSt threw a check engine light for knock sensor bank B
My rig is running like shit, and lost a lot of power.
Still runs ok, but ALWAYS have to floor it to keep speed.

My mechanic can fit me in this weekend, but I'm supposed to leave town tomorrow.....

WHAT DO I DO? Drive on the CEL or postpone trip to make vehicle in top shape 1st... :redbrick::redbrick::redbrick::redbrick::redbrick:

Postpone. It would be a PITA to drive it with timing always retarding.

I have a trip planned in two weeks to Moab. My brother is bring his 4th gen 4runner. He was hit in a hit and run and we had to replace his rear wheel bearing, hub assembly and axle. We then found the rear axle tube is bent. We are pulling the entire rear axle this weekend and bring it to a shop to straighten. Then put it all back in two days before we leave. Its going to suck ass!!

Definitely postpone. It would be crazy to limp your rig out there especially if it totally shits the bed on the trails.

Get it fixed and reschedule your trip, no brainer....

sorry, but the worst place to repair a rig is on the trail... 2+hrs from the nearest parts store and with minimal tools...

Be responsible and fix it before play. sucks but such is life and lemons.

If it makes you feel any better the weather is supposed to be crappy there this weekend. We are scheduled to leave for a camping trip today, but it looks like we will be postponing too...but due to weather (we have a three year old that is scared of the thunderstorms).

What do yall say to this:

"The easiest temp fix for us 3rd gens is to jump the 2 knock wires. It'll hold you through until you either pull everything and redo it oem or until you do a gm sensor swap.
I drove mine 2 months just clearing the code by my phone. Finally found the jumper solution. It took 3 minutes. Worked beautifully ever since. Jerad is right it's usually the harness not the sensor but everyone hates the cost of toy sensors and how quick knock kills them so some.of us have gone to a gm sensor and relocated it as well. There are argument for and against yet no one has had any I'll effects either way"

Call Toyota dealers in your area, find one that can order parts and get it fixed Saturday and leave Saturday night. It's not that far from Denver.

I'm leaving in a week for a big trip and noticed last night my rear axle seal is leaking. I'll just bite the bullet and have the dealer replace it tomorrow so I know it's done and good for the trip.

It was really wet for me. 1 small rock slide. Nothing hurt.

I did. It worked... no CEL.

It's been bone dry up in the PNW, no rain for like 6 weeks. I guess you;re getting it
