Sylvania Silver Star Bulbs Short life span

With the Sylverstar's limited-life reputation and my experience with them: if they don't fizzle out on their own, I now "make sure" that they don't last the full 12 months. 11.999 tops.

I'd hate to have them last 13 or 14 months - just past warranty expiration date - then blow.

The 1 yr satisfaction guarantee at Can. Tire is the only reason I still use them (they are basically free.) This last one even surprised me because it was so short.

Thanks for the hint. I missed the one bulb by 22 days. Now I track them closer and will switch a low-beam to a fog position at 9 months just to make sure they burn up (fogs are always on.)

I agree with the short span as I have had two sets that were short. I didn't have the receipt but you go to sylvanias website , email them and they send you an Rma email to send them back. If you have your receipt you fax if to them. I have always sent in the pair so they would both be brand new. They always honor it.

order up the philips bulbs from uk sights. way better and long lasting.

Those V-LED's specifically say to not use them as a primary source of light, but only for aesthetic purposes. I'm confused as to what the point is then...?

Silverstars are junk, I learned my lesson with those years ago.

I replaced all my front lights with Sylvania Silver Star Bulbs back in Nov 03. I like the brighter/whiter light and have been very happy with this easy mod. Yesterday I realized one of the low beam bulbs had burned out. That seems a little short lived for me. Anyone else have a problem with premature failure of these bulbs or was this just a fluke.

I have just recently had to change my low beams on a 1993 Full size blazer for the first time in 19 years...WOW! and I chose the Sylvania Silver Star Bulbs since I had to take a look at who made those 19 yr. old bulbs when I took them out.
I liked these as a replacement due to their brighter white properties etc. I am very pleased with them but I do not drive much at night apparently and the old bulbs obviously were lower wattage so I would not be good for longevity.
