Earlier today I thought I noticed the tachometer needle slightly vibrating when the transmission upshifted, it was under somewhat heavy acceleration - RPM between 3500-4000. Once the 4runner was parked I revved-up the engine to about 4000 RPM for a brief moment and released the gas pedal - once the needle started going down there was a subtle vibration. Did that few more times and the vibration was there upon both acceleration and deceleration of the engine once the needle went over 3K RPM - I'm talking just quick bursts at the gas pedal, if I keep it steady at 3-4K there's no vibration. There's a good possibility this has always been the case and I just happened to notice it today since the engine doesn't spend much time over 3K RPM... I tried to take a video of it but the vibration is so subtle that the video quality my phone is capable of wouldn't cut it. This is a stock 2016 SR5P with 23K miles. No noticeable engine issues to report.
Knowing how long this engine has been around I don't have much of a concern regarding reliability, just curious if anyone else has noticed anything like this?
