Tell me if this is feasible or not

A few years down the line, I intend to retire, or perhaps semi-retire, and live a bit of a nomadic travel trailer lifestyle, until driving a rig is no longer safe.

The setup I am thinking about:

1) Tow Vehicle: 4 wheel drive, V8 4runner. (Have one now but it is a high mileage 2003 sport, so I'd probably swap it for one with lower miles.)

2) Trailmanor 3124 or 3326. Dry weight of the 3124 is 3090 lbs. It folds down like popup camper, but has spring-loaded top that is easy to set up with a minimalist bathroom, king size bed, and frig and cook stove inside. Very easy to set up and fold down, means it makes it very easy to really be mobile and go with the seasons, see people we want to see, visit places we want to see.

In addition, I'd like to carry a couple of kayaks and a couple of bicycles. I assume that the top of the 4 runner would be the ideal place to tote the kayaks. The back of the Trailmanor can be set up with a hitch to receive a bike carrier, but too much weight back there might make the handling a bit unstable.

Any thoughts on the best way to set this up?

Any chance you could keep the Kayaks in the camper?

I would consider mouting the bikes or yaks to the roof of the camper as well.

Just know that anything you put on the roof is going to kill your gas mileage.

Do you plan on doing any wheeling? Or just using the 4R to tow?

I would consider a dedicated RV, something Sprinter based with a diesel. But that's me.

That's really cool. Pop up campers have really come a long way since I last looked at them. I remember them only having the hard top that goes up and tent material stretch out on either end for the beds to slide out.

If your asking if a v8 runner will pull it, sure. I pull a ski boat around with about the same weight without much issue. I get around 8-9 mpgs while heading to the lake, so make sure and plan for that expense. Stock 2004 v8 with 120k miles.

My wife and I are retired and spend a good amount of time traveling with our trailer being my '05 Limited. We have a KZ Sportsmen hybrid which is 2700lbs dry. The hybrid is our choice as it has pop-up like beds that fold out of the hard-side so it still has the "camping outside" feel but all the conveniences of a hard-sided trailer.

I have 180K on my truck and don't plan on making any changes to a newer model simply because there's no need to. It all depends on what you want to do, we like to go off-road so we set up the trailer and hit the trails, something you can't do with a dedicated RV.

Whatever you choose, enjoy retirement, it's what we spend a lifetime working towards and is our best years so far!

The Sprinter is a fine vehicle. We strongly considered it as a delivery vehicle for my bakery the last time we bought a new one, so I am familiar with that option. It would make sense if breaking camp and driving someplace new nearly every night, but I want to park for a few weeks or months at a time. The Trailmanor has a lot more living space, and the 4Runner is a MUCH better vehicle to use as my primary mode of transportation after setting up the camper, rather than having to drive a Sprinter everywhere.

It isn't an option to put kayaks on top or inside the Trailmanor. If it doesn't work to tote them on top of the 4 runner, I will probably do without.

The bikes should work on the back of the camper or option b is to install a front bumper with a hitch on the 4R.
