Hey guys new to the board...im thinking about picking up a 99 4runner mostly just to play with not as a daily driver, just for snowboarding and i guess some offroading.
The 4runner im looking at is a 99 LTD 4WD with 84,XXX miles (no locker
), I test drove it already but it was dark out, when i checked under the car with my flashlight everything seems well greased and clean, CV boots good, all windows work including back, sunroof works fine the tracks for it look good, ant. works up and down fine, 4WD works, even wear on tires, tracks fine on the road, brakes feel good, but I did notice coolant smell in the engine bay, couldn't see any major leaks so im thinking its minor, the owner just puts gas in and takes it for oil changes he knows nothing about things that smell. (Although he did manage to put on an ulgy @ss bush gaurd which is loose btw)
The catch tank is empty, the temp gauge looks fine, it didnt even cross my mind to sniff the exhaust but i will do that tomorrow along with checking under the oil fill cap for muck, water in oil from dipstick, coolant color, and ATF smell and color.
If all of these check out fine I can't think of a reason not to buy the truck
Do you guys think I should check anything else on it?? I will be checking it out again tomorrow in early afternoon.
I would look at other 4runners but this one is in my price range of $8k and I have been looking for a while
THANKS!
