Throttle Body cleaning at 15K?

Just dropped my car off for 15k service. Said cabin air filter needed to be replaced and the throttle body needed to be cleaned....is that normal?

Never driven in dust etc....

Should I be concerned about the throttle body?

The total is going to be $350 for 15k service and throttle body and air filter replacement.

Yes, I trust my dealer - they wouldnt take advantage of us: 2 land cruisers and 1 4runner bought from them....

they are not being honest. the cabin and air filter yes
but for the throttle body service they are nuts. that should fall under the factory warranty . im a service manager for a dodge store and we wont sell it till after 36k. if its not in your owners booklet telling you to do it at that milage then it falls under
toyota. i would call the toyota c.r line and let them know they are taking advantage of you

Doesn't sound like normal maintenance to me, especially not at 15k miles. I'm just at 19k, but the only things I have done to service my car are change the oil and lube the drive shaft (every 5k) and have replaced the cabin air filter. I'll probably do the engine air filter at 20k. I wouldn't even waste the money on fuel system cleaner until at least 30k.

DON'T DO IT!!!

Do it yourself. Throttle body cleaning is simple. Takes roughly 45 minutes for the newbie. The reason for cleaning? Carbon deposits of course. Won't hurt to do it now, but I usually do it every 60k. Note that they are only cleaning it, so it wouldn't fall under warranty work.

The cabin air filter takes a whole 3 minutes.

Total with tax should be no more than $20.

You sir, are about to get ripped off by the stealership.
