97k units is more than any Lexus car and almost as many (3k) less than the best selling Lexus (RX). 26% YOY sales growth with $2/gal. gas. I don't think we have to worry about the 6th generation's existence any more (not that most of every really did being that it shares a juggernaut world platform).

Thing is, the 6th gen (if there is going to be one), was planned out about 5 years ago, so who knows. I still think we'll hear within a years time.

When and where does Toyota usually make these announcements? A quick google search showed me that the 5th gen was announced in May and the latest highlander in April.

Considering the crush car mfgs. get from the U. S. EPA and this low sales percentage, I would not be surprised to see either an under-powered 4Runner or no 4Runner at all at some point down the road.

Check your math Lester. It is over 3.5% of total Toyota US sales and almost 10% of truck sales. Out of the 35 models currently offered by Toyota in the US the 2015 4Runner sales rank it 10th. Not too shabby. Looks like they need to get rid of 25 other models if they only go on sales volume... which they don't. No idea what the global sales figures are for the 4Runner or Prado (different sheet metal 4Runner) but I bet they are pretty big. 4Runner is probably safe but as you say who knows about the distant future?

That's about the most absurd thing I have read in awhile. Do you have any idea how much the 4R and its platform bring in to Toyota's bottom dollar? Using your logic why do they keep the LC around? They must really be idiots.
