Toyota 4Runner reliability - how does it compare?

Jesus.. I'd hesitate doing that on my current setup, let alone bone stock.

Hahahhahahahah I feel like this thread just changed topics, but I like it! You need to start your own video thread about abusing your T4R "don't do this at home" style.
We've updated our reliability stats for the 4Runner to include owner experiences through June 30, 2016. Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year (lower is better):
2008 4Runner: 23, low
2007 4Runner: 16, low
2006 4Runner: 57, low
2005 4Runner: 75, moderate
2004 4Runner: 88, moderate
2003 4Runner: 34, low, small sample size
We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:
2007 4Runner: 89, < 1
2006 4Runner: 60, < 1
2005 4Runner: 54, 4
Additional participants always helpful, especially for years without stats or with small sample sizes.

Just bought an 06 a couple months back. 125k on it. very clean. had to replace a camshaft solenoid i want to call it? it bolts right into the head pretty small cylindrical piece. the one on the left side was completely separated from the inside part which was dumping oil all over.

Camshaft Position Sensor I think... as for reliability I'm pushing 320k and all I've replaced is a wheel bearing and inner and outer tie rods. Those don't include my off-road based mods

Nice! you have an 06 as well? So far i'm pretty happy with the condition of my 4Runner, transmission feels as if it shifts a little harder then i expect but this is my first automatic vehicle. i did a transmission flush, and it's a little smoother. Maybe i'm just worrying too much.

Yup, 06 V8.. My trans has never been flushed and it feels fine to me
