Are these people protesting over the recalls or about NUMMI shutting down?
If it's the latter, first of all it's not Toyota that shafted them. GM got bailed out and exited the joint venture in NUMMI that lead Toyota to shutting it down. Now these same employees are all over news asking people to boycott Toyota over quality issues. If I was the news reporter, I would ask them aren't some these the same Toyotas you built and touched. Sounds like poor work ethics and sabotage. I've seen protestors and petitioning at the SJ Auto Show over NUMMI.
Besides, these NUMMI folks are getting better unemployment benefits than everyone else. Talk about equality and fairness compared to the other tens of thousands who's lost their jobs in CA.
BTW, in Dublin, there's a "Toyota Drive" or something. The only 5th gen I've seen on the road in the area (probably on a test drive) and then it made a turn onto that road towards the dealership.
