tr5 trail vs Tacoma DC TRD Sport and present to me

After a some what long internet forum search for a fathers day retirement present to my self I bought a 2015 Trail t4r silver as opposed to a 2016 3rd gen DC Tacoma TRD Sport. Thanks to folks on this forum I felt that slight price increase for the t4r was worth it. Primary use long and short distance towing, commuting and Vermont dirt trails and mountains. I like the 4.0L engine and the crawl and other off road features although I don't expect to do any heavy off roading (but you never know).

Thanks to gamester for the hints on the extended warrantee package and the ideas that Antman has posted on modifications, I believe I can trick this thing out and become a cool dude like others on this forum. Brings me back to my first car a used 1967 Camaro that I played around with.

Next research project a lift and new wheels/tires. But no rush

I don't remember much about my Camaro except it was blue, stock and had 327 and had a weird truck type of H transmission R/1st/2nd/3rd. I had to shift out of 1st by 10 mph, second was about 10 mph to about 50 or 60, then I could get rubber shifting into 3rd. No 4th or 5th. Someone told me they had to crank the Camaros out fast to compete with the Stangs, and they did not have enough transmissions so they used 3 speed truck transmissions. I have no idea if it was true. But that's weirdest manual I ever drove and I loved it. I used to make that 2nd gear scream.

So I now get to fool around with t4r. I guess I'm showing my age.

Mine was my mom's car in high school, and my parents parked it in a barn for 15 years...I resurrected it in the mid 90s when I got my permit. Fun car. I could get to about 80 in first gear. When it would finally shift, look out!
