1992 4x4 6 cylinder 250,000 miles automatic transmission. When it is cold it slips when taking off, but if let to warm up it wokrs fine. Could this be some sensor or electrical problem? Or possibly a torque converter What are your thoughts?

Not since I have had it, but it would seem like if that was the problem it would slip all the time, not just when cold. That being said i suppose it would be a good idea to change the filter and fluid.
At this mileage it is time for it to go anyway, but i was just wondering if this was a standard thing with this transmission at long miles or something possibly more involved.

You don't need to buy a new filter. Buy a can of brake clean and clean your old filter out with that, sense it is a screen filter not a fabric one.
