Transmission transplant, now spedo's off

On Sunday I finally got around to replacing my bad transmission with one that stays in gear, and doesn't sound like it's got a bunch of gravel in it.

Anyway, I put a transmission from a 1988 into my 1987 (shouldn't be an issue), and now my spedo's off by about 5 MPH at all speeds (it used to be dead on).

Any thoughts on what the difference is, and how to correct it?

I have no real idea...... adjust the needle as a bandaid fix??

Do you have a speedometer cable? If you have a mechanical speedometer cable there is a gear that is removable. You need to take the gear out of your old trans. and swap it in to the new one if it fits. In most cases this is just a little plastic gear and its in the hole that you hook the speedo cable to.
