Truck died and wont restart - IAC code

Hi all. My 96 v6 was nursing a p0505 IAC code but seemed to run fine. Anfew days later it would stall at stop lights very seldom but easily restart. Today it stalled and refused to start. Had to tow it home. It cranks and turns fine (new battery) but no start. I recently cleaned the throttle body in hopes of ridding myself of the code. Ran well for weeks (with the code) then suddenly this.
Is it still the iac. Shouldn't the truck restart if i gas it a little when starting if its just the iac? Ive read the iac threads and they will usually restart but need constant gas. Ill be checking for more codes later and peeking at the tb and iac again but im afraid it could be a bigger issue.

correct, if it was just a ICS fault it should start and run fine under throttle application. have you pulled both current and pending codes since? still only p0505? check your vacuum lines, are you leaking anywhere?

Your IAC is probably completely clogged, allowing no air at idle which stalls it, especially when the engine is hot. You need to clean it out well or replace altogether. It's on the bottom on the throttle body.

Copy that. I took out and cleaned the TB a few weeks ago but didnt take off the IAC.

Today, another weird symptom -- When I tried to see if there were additional codes, the code scanner didnt want to work -- keeps on showing a "Linking Error". It might be my scanner but it was working perfectly well just 2 weeks ago.

Im thinking this might be an ECU or fuel pump issue now or something as bad or worse. Oh well, Im just summoning the time and wherewithal to tow it over 15 miles, through wet/flooded roads (theres a storm right now), to my trusted shop.
