I would like some advice on the town. I moved from Nashville TN at the beginning of the month to Salt Lake City. While i like it here a lot, I have a possible job opportunity in Truckee.

I feel strange posting about this but seeing that i am moving there completely Alone I thought some of y'alls opinions on the place would help the decision .

A little about me: I do everything I can outside. I love Camping, Mountain Biking, Fly Fishing, Hunting, skiing, Running around with my dog, canoeing, Off roaring, Cooking, Eating, Drinking beer, Live music etc.

BTW i am 24y/o with a 4runner full of gear and an great dog. It should be a great town for me right? What do you think?

Truckee is amazing for any outdoorsman , plenty to do year round. Pretty much of the few places i would relocate in a heartbeat. Usually spend most of my vacation time up there and lake tahoe

A group I was in had a cabin in the area, so we used to be in and around Truckee while skiing and when exploring that part of the Sierra in the summer. Based on what you tell us about yourself, I'd say Truckee is a very good fit. The area has grown a lot over the years, has more amenities than it used to, but can be expensive housing wise. Good luck.

Like what RockyMountainT4R said, Truckee sounds like a good fit. Plenty of outdoor activities to do. Whenever I visit Truckee/Tahoe I fantasize a bit about what it would be like to live there.

Sold!

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm going to take a tour of the Job Op this upcoming week.

I'm pretty sold on Truckee sooo assuming I like the job I'll be moving there! Hopefully i'll see some of y'all around.

I musty be a strange cat...

The first thing I thought, was what does he do and what is the job op...

The second thing was look up a wiki on Truckee...didn't have that when I was young...we used the library.

The third thing was to think damn, I wish I was 24 owned a 4runner, had a loyal dog, and could go chase a job op's cross country again...

Hey even if Truckee and the Job op sucks, you can drive in any direction into some of the greatest country this country has to offer.

Good Luck, can't wait to hear about the job and the adventure, which I hope you will share with us when appropriate.

I'm close friends with a couple who moved to the Truckee area to work at a ski resort. They drove from Chicago, IL to Truckee, CA in their 22RE-powered camper-truck! Both are outdoorsey individuals who loved that area while they were there.

Truckee is awesome, beautiful all year around and like it was said before is great for the outdoors. Met with the guys who work for the streets dept, and they are some of the happiest city workers I've ever met.
