Tundra Brake Upgrade - 2WD?

I have a 2000 Limited 2WD. (I can hear the booing now.) Yeah, yeah - it was cheap and it showed up when I needed it. Anyway, I'm going to have to overhaul the brake system sometime soon and the TBU looks like a good idea. I've read numerous threads about it here but I haven't seen any information about whether one can do the TBU upgrade on a 2WD. Anyone know? Thanks.

I don't think that it being 2WD makes any difference. What is important is the wheel size/type that you have. I know the larger Tundra brakes do not work with the 16" 3 spoke wheels unless you use wheel spacers or grind on the wheels/calipers.

Good - on some truck designs, the 2WD and 4WD have different rotors and different rotor attachment schemes. The 2WD versions would be slip-on rotors but the 4WDs would be bolted to the back of the wheel hub and require hub removal to replace. Good to know the 4Runner isn't that way.

Just be sure that it has the 'WL' calipers of you want the 231 brakes. I intentionally found a 2000 2WD Tundra for the 'WE' calipers.

I went with the 199mm TBU on my 98 because of the plug and play nature of the upgrade. Eazy peazy! It made a very noticeable difference in stopping power. I'm very pleased with it.
