Tundra brake upgrade questions

I read a couple of the posts on the tundra brake upgrade but I'm not sure I've got it all correct. I'll have to go back and reread. In the meantime a couple of questions
Do you retain the stock wheels without a spacer? What I'm after here is do I just need to change the caliper/rotor/pads and trim the dust shield as maybe required and make no other mods.

Is the 2005 tundra the 31W 4 piston caliper? What I'm after here is can I go to dealer or auto parts store and tell them I need brakes for 2005 tundra?

It depends on which wheels you have... If you have the six spoke wheels the answer is NO, but if you have the 5 spoke wheels then YES
Post a picture of yours and we can tell you.

Yes, they are a 4 piston caliper... I order parts for a 2006 4wd V8 just to eliminate any confusion.

Need some pics to tell ya if an investment in spacers or a grinder will be in your future for the 231mm calipers. If not, go with the 199mm calipers.

I am running the 231 13WL calipers off a 2006 Sequoia.

Sorry no pics atm, as there is no 4runner in the household yet :biggrin2: I'm watching the ads, looking for a 2002 low mileage possible supercharger 4runner.
So in the mean time I'm educating myself as I'm a never owned a toyota before.

Been reading all the mod / maintenance threads trying to figure out what is what. So if ya all got good links here or elsewhere post em up for me please.

I figure I'll most likely wind up with some Tundra 17" wheels, but I'm hoping I can stumble onto some 5 spoke 16" wheels. I do rather like my split spokes... but I'd prefer not to run spacers. I'm rather curious if these clear the larger calipers as well. Stealth Custom Series I'm all for reduced wheel weight!

Edit: I didn't notice they have 17x8 as well... those probably do have enough room to clear, but I'd still prefer 16" wheels for my use if I can find the stock 5 spokes.
