Hello everyone. It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything as life has been busy and my 04 limited v6 4wd has been problem free for the last 40,000 miles....She’s about to turn over 240k.
Tonight I was waiting in the parking lot with the engine off when I heard a popping noise 2 times. It was coming from under the drivers seat.
When I started the engine, I could hear and feel a vibration under my feet. It sounded and fealt similar to tires rubbing on the fender well. The noise and vibration continued as I drove slowly around the parking lot but only when accelerating. I then drove a few miles at around 40mph and went back to the lot. The noise and vibration had stopped.
On my way home I noticed a faint whirling/hooing noise (like an owl) at 30-40mph. The noise only happens in gear while driving.
My first thought was a bad motor or tranny mount because of the popping noise I heard and fealt while it was shut off. But the owl noise made me thing driveline. Possibly Ujoints?
Has anyone else experienced this? I’ll grease the ujoints tomorrow to see if it helps. I’ve greased them every 10,000 miles but maybe they’re just done at 240k.
