I can't say enough good about Vancouver Toyota.

Just got our 5th vehicle from them. A 1998 4Runner.

First vehicle/dealing; 2001 Tacoma 4 Door Limited. Perfect transaction.

2nd Vehicle/transaction; 1989 FJ62 Land Cruiser. Better than perfect transaction. Short story. Saw it in the paper advertised for $3910 on Sunday before Labor Day 2003. On Labor day, I Called our salesman and asked what was wrong with it and why was it only $3910. He said it wasn't $3910, it was $6800. I told him it was in the paper for $3910. He said bring the ad in and he'd sell it to me for that. Went in, test drove it and made the deal for $3910. Credit manager set up financing at $210 per month for 24 months. Not a great deal, but all things considered, it was the best he could do. Went in Tuesday to sign the papers and the credit manager said he had some bad news. He told me that because of the age and mileage (256K) they would only finance it for 18 months. I thought "no problem". He went on to say that since he told me the payments were going to be $210 per month, that he had to sell it to me for $3300 to keep the payments there!!! Then to top it all off, they replaced the front knuckle seals because they were leaking grease on the front brakes, for free!

3rd vehicle/dealing; 2004 Tundra Double Cab SR5. Another perfect transaction. (Traded the Taco in on this one)

4th vehicle/dealing; 1991 Celica; ditto.

5th vehicle/dealing; 1998 4Runner SR5. Story; I bought the 2001 Ford F250 from the company I was working for when they laid me off for $1000. I couldn't afford to put gas in it as it had the V-10 in it and got 9-10 mpg. 2 weeks ago, I saw this 4Runner on the dealers lot. The next day I took the F250 over and still being out of work, asked them if they wanted to trade straight across. After about 20 min of the salesman talking to his boss, they made the deal. Not only that, they paid the taxes, licensing and registration. Monday when I got a letter from them saying my plates were in, there was a check for $39 and some change as a refund for the registration fee! I hadn't paid anything and they still refunded me a few bucks!

If you are in SW Washington or the Portland, OR area, you really should see them before buying.

As a side bar, I've bought enough parts from them for the Land Cruiser that they give me a serious discount (30%+) on everything I buy from the parts department!

ill second this... McCord's Vancouver Toyota, is probably one of the best dealers(of any auto manufacture) i have ever worked with, from sales to parts. their parts guys are super knowledgeable and great to work with. my father inlaw as some of you may know works for a Toyota dealer in eastern Or, and its a hour and a half drive one way to their place, while i can always get parts at his cost through him its sometimes inconvenient. well Mark at McCord's found out who i was married to(long story but he knows my wife apparently) and just passed on that discount to me that my father inlaw has... so basically i no longer have to go through him to get dealer pricing and wholesale prices. not only that but several times i have been in to buy a part, and talked with the guys in there about what im doing and whats wrong and they point me in the right direction either keeping me from buying the wrong part or a part i dont need, and directing me strait to the true problem. also they have given wonderful advice on aftermarket products and shops locally who do great work and have great knowledge as well.

i can not say enough good things about Vancouver Toyota. and a couple of guys there have 4runners(3 of them have 3rd gens great for me) so its always nice to talk about mods and get experiences from them, on parts, upgrades and mods...:trophy:

I'm glad to hear good experiences here. I personally went to them for an oil service and couldn't get anyone to help me. I pulled in and started chatting with the check in/porter guy. I told him that I had a full shrockworks skid system and asked if that would be a problem. He crawled underneath and gave me the thumbs up. However, when I went inside, none of the service writers acknowledged me. I stood there for 15 mins. Some made eye contact, others never even looked up from their computer screens. One of the sw acknowledged another customer that walked in after me. After that, I just walked out.

If any of you guys have a contact there, I'd love to chat with him/her.

talk to mark or chad in parts im sure they will hook you up. i dont have any service done there, as my father inlaw is a senior tech at a dealer in eastern orgon(griffith toyota in the dalles), so any work i cant do goes to him. -and he has his own shop on their property that i can use, and typically do, cause i love to learn how to do the things i cant do, and he has way more tools than i do.

your a vendor i see, what are you selling/marketing? you wheel much? have you checked out the "portland or" thread in the 3rd gen section? theres a few of us around.

This is probably the easiest way to explains my history with the forum.

Unfortunately, here is the review I just left Vancouver Toyota. I wish I had a different experience. Scott@Hightech

I am a former General Manager of an independent repair facility. I know what to expect when I walk into a repair facility or dealership service center. I also explained this to Charity the service advisor.

My 2011 4Runner is coming up on 36k miles. I wanted to have a TSB performed for the headlight hazing. I figured I would also allow them to change the oil while I was there. I am very familiar with courtesy check lists. I understand the purpose they serve. I wanted to save the technicians time by not having them perform over 50% of the check sheet. I specifically told Charity to not bother with checking the engine air filter (aftermarket), cabin air filter, tire pressure, tire rotation, brakes, battery test, lights, and even the drivetrain fluids. I had just performed all of that within the last 48 hours. As a matter of fact, I just replaced the upper control arms (aftermarket). All I wanted done was for someone to check the TSB, change my oil and filter, and LUBE THE DRIVESHAFTS!!! I even removed the front aftermarket skid plate so that it would be easier for the tech to get to the filter and drain the oil.

It is very difficult to get to the grease fittings of the driveshaft while laying on the ground. I do not have access to a lift.

So, after a 2.5 hour wait for an oil service and TSB inspection of the headlamps, it was time for me to go. I had a feeling the driveshafts weren't lubed. Unfortunately, I was correct. I went back into the service dept and spoke with Charity. I asked if she could ask the technician if they bothered to lube the shafts. Of course, she came back and told me 'no'. I am a very laid back person. I wish I wasn't right. It just proves to me that dealerships (in general) do not necessarily hire quality technicians. I know there are some out there, but I did not come across one this time around.

Charity was a pleasure to work with. She listened to all of my concerns and descriptions of what I wanted done. She even gave me a 'free' oil service next time. I wish I could give Charity a 4 out of 5 stars but I can't.

I'm not really sure I want to go back, even if it's free.

In fact, let me know when there is an opening for the Service Manager Position and I would be glad to sit down for an interview. I would like to change how the general public feel about dealerships. It would be a huge and great challenge.

I went there this weekend. Was looking for a new SR5 with 3rd row seats and they had one listed on their website for a pretty good price. When I got there, I was greeted by a friendly salesman and we talked about what I was looking for. He got on the computer and searched their web site. It was exactly the same site that I had already searched at home.

To make a long story short, he (they) couldn't find the vehicle that was listed on their own web site. We drove around the entire lot for about 40 minutes and they still don't know where the vehicle is. In the end, he give up and asked for my info so that he can contact me when he can locate the vehicle. Two days later, no calls, and the vehicle is no longer listed on their site.:frusty:

I recently inquired about a TEP on Vancouver's site, but of course, it had been "just sold". Several weeks later, it's still advertised on their site and I bet if you asked them it was "just sold".

I just added them to my deceptive dealers list.

I was about to take my 2017 4Runner in to Vancouver Toyota for minor warranty fix, but not sure now. Any other recommendations in the PDX area?

CR

I would recommend Mccords Toyota to anyone. When the wife and I were looking for our T4RTP I got a call from one of the salesman and he told me "we just got this white one in!!!" Our first service was easy, just pull up and checked in. Yes they were busy, but managed to stay cool and wait for a CSR.

It's too bad that you who have had bad experiences with them. I have the same problem with the Ram truck I own. Still haven't found a great dealer to deal with on that truck.
