Watertight roof sealant.

I bought some Flex Seal from Lowes today. I'm thinking about running my roof rack lights through the end caps on the roof. Has anyone had any experience with this product. Anything would be helpful.

Is it 100 percent silicone ?
If not it'll gradually harden and shrink.

Did you install a new roof rack or something?

If you did just put some 100% silicon on the threads of the bolts that bolt down into the roof of the 4runner. You should be good after that. That's what I did. And I noticed the oem toyota bolts had some sealant on them as well.

3M makes an awesome sealer for the marine environment. It's made to be used above or below the water line. It is some very strong stuff.

Flex seal experience

I have some, I've got a travel trailer with an extension that developed a seam leak after a few years. I tried the official $12 caulk from the tt place, didn't work. Then tried some majic tape they suggested, didn't work. Finally in desperation I went to my local ace and found a 3m version of flex seal and yup it stopped the leaking. its now been 2yrs on original repair (1 can), surviving just a couple 18 degree nights but lots and lots of 105+ days in central texas. So I'd say go for it, might want get the clear, they only had black in the 'old days'... :banana:
