That 7k off the new one doesn't help in resale. when they put 7k of next years model he just lost 7k more in value. He is the first person I have heard of doing well trading a GC and that after selling them. They are not great with resale. Good for him though. I hope he keeps going back to same dealer.

It's the same thing. $7K off sticker today and then another $7K sticker off the next one. What's the difference if he paid MSRP for both or got $7K off of both? The net difference is still the same. But the point here is that the cost of owning the vehicle was fairly low over the three years he owned it. I'd take that deal any day on any midsize SUV.
