What happened to the extended fuel tank thread that was here yesterday?

Looked for another subforum to ask this question, but couldn't seem to find one that was appropriate.

There was a thread here yesterday about a member who had installed a 30-something gallon auxiliary tank in his 4r. I even commented on the thread last night.

This morning? *Poof* gone. Nowhere to be found. The thread was obviously deleted, because I can't even find a record of my post in my user page.

Why was it deleted? Seemed pretty cool to me

The member was giving the OP crap because the OP mentioned in another thread (What’d you do to/in your 5th gen) that if you have to ask how much the auxiliary gas tank costs then you can’t afford it, or something along those lines.

It’s +33 gallons, an auxiliary tank not a replacement for the stock tank.

Gotta pay to play. To some folks, $2000+ is nothing and completely worth it to have the convenience of the extra fuel capacity, especially venturing out in the middle of nowhere. If I did more traveling and overlanding I would highly consider doing this upgrade. And it all really depends on peoples spending budget and financial income. Everyone is different. I’ve seen people spend 10 times more on useless cosmetic upgrades. But hey, thats their money and they can do what they want with it.

If you take a look it’s not +10 gallons
It’s the stock tank + another 33ish
Making a total of 50+

Tactical vehicle applications did an instal on lifestyle over lands 4runner and it was documented fairly well in the process.

until coronavirus happens and then you rely on the government to pay for your ass to eat.. stats from December 2019 show that nearly 70% of american's DO NOT have more than $1000 saved up as emergency.

so with 2k down the drain and +33 x 8lb/gallon = 264lbs of extra weight and a person who's willing to add this to their 4runner must have tons of other gear tipping the 4runner weight to about 6k PLUS heavy ass off road tires.. now were looking at about 12mpg

53 gal tank x 12mpg = 636miles per tank(s)
20 gal tank x 17mpg = 340 miles per oem tank

Well, you have people here who are too cheap or broke to buy real jack stands and are almost crushed by garbage harbor freight stands, so maybe he was not so wrong.

Actually the guy gave the OP crap for buying a expensive item instead of donating the 2K to the ''Needy''...........which makes you wonder why the guy was on this site where we share mods for 4Runners......Now the TRUMP BUCKS thread is gone too.

Who cares?! Their money. Their truck. Their rules. Or maybe it’s cause it’s a mod and it just stupid window tint...

As for the actual tank, it has a built in separate fuel gauge and pump. When it senses your primary tank is at a certain level, it starts to fill from the auxiliary. It’s pretty neat overall.

And gas weighs just a hair over 6 pounds, so it’s less than 200lbs. An aftermarket bumper with full size spare and full jerry cans will be north of that. That particular poster only had a hitch tire carrier. So he may be around the same weight as any other 4Runner running about the back country.

People outfit their trucks with what they need and want. Ideas are great. New items are great.

Some interesting math. Only the added weight of the gas figures into the decreased mileage?

Comparing mpg of a stock 4Runner to the mpg of a vehicle with "tons of other gear" and then blaming the fuel weight.....

Frankly if you are down to 12 then you seriously need to re-gear, but that costs more $$$$

Lots of folks would say any/all/most mods are a waste of money. If it makes you happy, increases pride of ownership better functionality, and you can afford it, go for it...

I’ve found that generally speaking, the people who preach to others about how/what they should be giving, give little to nothing themselves.
