Just look at what they picked for most fun in the same category--a Porsche and a BMW. These guys were looking for tall sports cars, not SUV's! They wouldn't have a clue what to do on a serious trail.

yeah... but look at the most fun ones. cayenne and x5. they're basing it purely on performance and handling. Those two are probably shit off-road compared to the 4runner

I drive a lot of Cayenne's for my job and they are great. In fact the whole Porsche line up is pretty spectacular. But I would take the Cayenne, trade it in for a 4Runner then use the rest of the money for mods!

Beat you by thaaaat much! Yeah, clearly these guys have no thoughts for offroad usage. It's almost funny to try to picture a Porsche with rock sliders, or a BMW with 35's and caved-in doors from close encounters with a tree!

I'd sell the Cayenne, buy an older 4Runner, mod the heck out of it, buy a second car, some camping gear, a really nice mountain bike, a great camera, some....

Apples and oranges for sure. My weekend warrior is an X5 sport. Funny thing is both the Bimmer and Porsche are classified as SAV (activity) vehicles. Being all wheel drive I still wouldnt go over a curb w/ mine. Handles like its on rails though.
