Note: I recently purchased an 04 4Runner (extremely low miles) and thought the same thing about that bin - "why aren't there alternatives?" Anyway - so one day not long ago I was in a 5 Below and found a bin that was ALMOST the right dimensions. Needless to say, for $5 I figured I could cut and rig something to work right. Well I ended up doing one, not being happy with the outcome, then doing another. The picture below is of the finished product:

Only problem is, its one more thing to move when you need to fold the seats down. I keep a plastic grocery bag in there and even when it's nearly full I can still fold the rears down without any extra effort.

Yep - you're right. I cart kids around and if I don't have a designated location for trash, it ends up on the floor, in the pouches behind the seats, under the front seats... you never know... That's why my first investment was in WeatherTech mats. But now I have a location to say "trash goes here!" and if they don't comply - then someone's cleaning dad's truck. If I had to fold the seats down a lot, then yeah - I wouldn't bother...
