Who here does family movie night? And do you turn off all devices?

I love movies and we try to do movie night at home a few times a month, at least once a month for sure.

Comment if you do something similar. I'm curious about:

* Do you have a no devices/screens policy?
> I try to encourage this because I think true movie night experience means no looking at instagram etc. Watch show with the wife/family and no phones on. Anyone else?

* What setup to watch on?

We have a device free week during school nights(for the children,wife and I try to not be on devices). No electronic devices at all(music is cool) during the week. They binge a bit on weekends, but we try to balance that with other activities. We do read to the girls almost nightly and do game nights. Usually Saturday we watch something together. Not perfect, but we try. My one daughter is way more into film than the other, so a movie we all like is sometimes challenging to find.

Every Friday night. Personal devices OFF. Redbox night i guess unless we're watching something on iTunes that i bought.

We try to watch a movie Friday, Saturday or Sunday, around 20hs, during the cold months mainly, but only if we have something we like. If we don't, we watch a couple of episodes of a TV Show we follow.
Phones're not a problem for us, we barely use social media. By the way, when we go to the cinema, or to a restaurant, or to visit other people for example, we always leave the phones in the car.
Our TV's 4K Sonny, I don't remember the model.
We prepare a tea and big bowls of pop corn, sometimes salty, sometimes sweet.
A blanket in our legs, we turn the lights off and we push the play button.
We enjoy those nights a lot!.

We just started this with my son. We watch newer kid movies but also our childhood favorites. This is solely time with him and I don’t think anything that important will come up so the phones are put away. In regards to equipment I think that’s what makes this more fun for him is we use a projector to view them and he thinks it’s the coolest thing ever.

My daughter is a er Dr and a child abuse Dr. She sees first hand what screens can do. None of us have a real addiction to our screens, so I suppose my long winded answer is we don't turn off phones because they are ignored anyway.

Cool idea. we don't do that,,,,yet. It's only the wife and I now days, but we have the grand kids sometimes. I think we will do that. I make all the devices go into a pot during dinner when the kids are here. Everything off, no one can use them an hour before or an hour after dinner.
