Wrangler Duratrac vs. AT Revo 3

Have about 2K miles on mine so far. Will agree that they are a little noisier than the stock tires, but that's not a deal killer for me. Got 5 of them direct from Goodyear (using the Goodyear credit card), during one of their holiday sales. Even the local installing Goodyear dealer couldn't believe the price I paid for them. :israel:

Do you mind measuring and posting your exact tread depth in 32nds as of now? Thanks!

I'll have to measure my Falkens, but they have a ton of tread after nearly 30k miles. My Duratracs after 30k miles had to be replaced. And they didn't wear evenly, and I had regular rotations and alignments done (all my rigs have free lifetime alignments).

Duratracs are amazing. Just too soft.

Mine are P. The two older ones have 25,300 miles and 6.5-7/32. They started at 13 (advertised is 14).

I have been monitoring wear and rotating quite a bit

13K miles on my Duratracs now and still loving them. Spent 4 days offroading them at the FJ Summit and couldn't be happier. Still quieter then my Nittos. Will post tread wear in a few days when I get home.

My duratracs got unbelievably loud around 18,000 miles. Rotated at 5K, 10k,15k. But they gripped like bear claws in everything I put them through. Never any slippage in rain, I mean never. 285 Ridge grapplers now and they are waaaaay more quiet

Mine are the P rated. I think they are a slightly better balance than the Duractracs, but not quite as good in snow. For an AT, nothing beats the Duratrac on snow and ice. An amazing tire, just loud, and wears a bit to fast (trade off for winter performance I guess.)

Yeah, it all makes sense, including the higher starting tread of 16/32.

I wonder if softer compounds wear even faster here in AZ.

GY has the Duratrac and Ultraterrain starting at 16 and TrailRunner and Adventure with Kevlar at 12.

I guess it all evens out at the end but I really dislike offroad tires under 9/32 though my two older Wildpeaks still perform fine at 7 both offroad and in rain, even on the rear axle. The last trail, ten days ago, was a moderate Montana trail where the rocks were not sharp but the trees and branches on the ground were endless. Lots of uphill, moderately loose. Not a single instance of spin at 33 psi except when my driver side got momentarily hung on the slider on a large rock, which has nothing to do with the tire. Quite impressive for tires at 7/32. They are also chunking now but I ran them by Discount Tire today and they said there is nothing worrisome.

Will see how they handle the desert in Nov-Dec as they approach the end of their useful life (5/32 for me, or even 6). I have doubts these two aging tires will survive but time will show.

Meanwhile, I am always exploring tire options, for both vehicles

On our Subaru, the Nitto 420S have been very impressive. Normally I would ditch tires at 4/32 even if only used on street but these 420S at 4/32 still stop and corner very, very well.
