Mounting Big red Highlift on stock roof rails?

Hello,

I am taking my 5Gen on another 8000km trek from Owen Sound to Los Cabos Mexico at the tip of the Baja. My question is I want to mount my 48" high lift on my stock limited roof rail cross bar accessories. I am finding staring at the hardware aisle at Home depot stores to be difficult. Nothing looks that efficient that I have found. Anyone done this? I don 't have time to order any custom mount.

Thx

how about a 4' length of 3"-4" ABS pipe, cap on one end and a couple of holes for a bungee. Just slid the jack in, bungee or two to hold it there, and a couple of straps to hold it to the crossbars.

That would keep it fairly clean as well, may try this. Thx

Don't have experience with mounting hi-lift, but for long trip I would either use something solid like this one http://www.amazon.ca/Hi-Lift-Jack-TM.../dp/B003CEODQI or mount it inside the trunk with bungees. Standard bungees can't go under roof rails (maybe there are ones which can, but I didn't see them) so you might want to consider ratchet straps with bungees. Reliable mounting hi-lift even in ABS pipe might be complicated. Last thing you want is your hi-lift flying off the roof on a highway. Besides on the roof it will be loud. Just my 2 cents, maybe if you ask on 5gen forum you'll get more ideas : )
