2007 4Runner sun visor issues?
Is anyone aware of a TSB for the 2007's sun visors not staying in the upright position? Is anyone else having this issue? My buddy owns a '07 and he seems to be experiencing this problem more and more. I have an '08 and this problem has not occurred for me but I will admit my '08 is only driven in the winter by my wife. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

I have a 2003 and my driver side does the samething and it bugs the s*** out of me . And still everytime I get in I move it up like its going to stay this time..
I tightened the screws one time and it helped for a lil bit. But now I think the screw inserts are just shot and worn out don't hold as well. It's on my list of things to remedy.
Never heard of a TSB about this though

Sort of related: my driver sode visor started making "cracking" noises when moved. Irritated the hell out of me. I just replaced it.
There is really nothing you can do to a visor to "tighten" the up and down movement. It could be just worn out, pure and simple.

For what? Over use of it? By nature of how it works, its going to wear out eventually. Get another one.

Thank you everyone...I will let my buddy know. I'm not experiencing this issues with either one of my 4Rs but just thought I would ask. Cheers!

I'm having this problem on my 04 and it drives me CRAZY on the trails but it probably wouldn't cost more than $40 bucks or so to find a replacement and three minutes to replace it, rather than years of trying to get Toyota to make a recall for it.
IF there were anything to be recalled I would hope it would be something really important.
**If anything put some velcro on it and attach it to the ceiling.

It's a pretty common problem with the 05+ Tacomas. The problem there is that there's a rod inside that keeps it in place with a couple metal tabs. The visor itself is plastic, so the metal wears at the plastic until it no longer holds or the plastic itself starts to separate. There's a temporary solution where you cut back the fabric, put a hole in both sides, and use a hose clamp to keep it from separating and squeezing the visor back together around the rod.
The fix lasted about 6 months in my Tacoma (I commute into the sun both ways so I was always adjusting my visor) and now it's floppy again. Just ordered an OEM one to replace it and that cost me just under 100 bucks. I only drive the Tacoma once in awhile (every Weds at the minimum) but it was driving me crazy. Hopefully I don't have the same problem in the 4runner.

If you have anything on top of the visor, remove it. If there are any screws visible near the pivot rod, tighten them. You can remove the visor and slightly bend the pivot rod, inside the visor.
let's try
