i know this is an old thread, but, i had a perpetual issue with this and imo had nothing to do w the disc. I found the sequence of screen touches (on this site) to get to the service menu of the nav, and from in there you could see that the GPS was only getting 1 or 2 satellites. even took the car to the dealer to see if there was an antennae issue, they couldn't find anything...surprise surprise.
what i did to fix it myself was simple...i disconnected the battery for 10-15minutes. once i reconnected the battery and fired up the system I was getting a full bank of sats connected...issue went away and hasn't come back since...
the new NAV discs take away the back door into the service menu of the nav, so i never updated. why? because you can go into the service menu and select OVERRIDE which allows you to use the nav while the vehicle is in motion
