WTB 5th Gen 2010-2013 Trail Edition

I am currently in the market to purchase a new vehicle. I am looking anywhere in California and surrounding states please. I am not in a rush to buy and I will be patient in finding one that I like and fits my criteria (yes I am super picky) so please keep an eye out for me for any that may pop up in your area for sale, or you know someone possibly looking to sale, or you yourself are looking to sale. I would greatly appreciate any help since these are harder to come by in well taken care of excellent condition.

Years: 2010 to 2013
Model: Trail Edition (not the premium just the regular trail)
Color: Black preferably (2nd choice charcoal/dark grey/gray 3rd choice silver)
Mileage: prefer under 120k but if it is super clean (than I would consider under 165k)
Options: KDSS, touchscreen JBL audio with rear camera, sunroof, sliding rear deck

100% OEM Stock (nothing added to it at all with the exception of a window tint or something along those lines)

Other criteria: I am looking for a 1 owner vehicle, one that has receipts/proof of all scheduled maintenance, one that hasn't been beat the crap out of/hardly taken offroad and when it was it was very light off roading, has not seen snow (I do not want to deal with rust later on I plan on keeping this vehicle for the next 20 plus years. I made that mistake with a jeep I bought years back and it eventually had rust issues), was not used to tow anything, super clean inside and out and was just really well cared for and taken care of.

Like I said I am looking to keep this vehicle for the next 20 plus years and drive it until it falls apart so I want one that will get me into the next 20 years. I know there will only be a handful that will meet this criteria and I am willing to be patient. I take care really good care of vehicles so I would like to purchase one from someone who does the same.

Thanks for reading and I appreciate any help with keeping an eye for me.

Thanks I appreciate it.

Any specific reason why? The more I know the better

I know they seem to be a little cheaper in price without them.

I have heard the navigation can be finicky on it but thats the only thing I am aware of.

I just do not like the rear camera screen in the rear view mirror. Just an OCD thing I guess no real reason for my dislike of it.

It took me roughly 2 years to find a clean OG 5th gen trail in black. Being in California there isn't much out here that are stock. All the ones you will find across the country that are close to being stock are going to be in the rust belt or Colorado and they're asking crazy prices for rusted out trail editions....

My advice is to keep your search limited to the southwestern states, Cali/Nev/Az

I was lucky enough to find a one owner/maintained/cali driven black 5th gen trail up in LA at a Toyota dealer and I took it the day of for around $24,000 at 60k miles with KDSS no touchscreen plus I paid extra for platinum warranty that paid itself over many times.

It might be months or years of waiting but I think its worth it if you plan on keeping it, the difference in a 5th gen trail from California and one from the midwest is night and day, and your paying the same price after all is said and done. And I guarantee you won't find one on this website, you best luck is cargurus.com with all the boxes checked off for a properly maintained one owner vehicle. These vehicles sell within one week at the right price, for a good conditioned one from cali they are sold within 48hours once listed.... happy hunting

Its funny you mention that about not finding one on this forum because I kind of had a hunch that most people on here are most likely gonna modify theirs and are into offroading and stuff so it will be highly unlikely to find a 100% stock oem one on here but I guess I was also hoping that maybe maybe with the smallest percentage that maybe someone might have a neighbor or friend or hears about someone selling one in their area. Car gurus is a good one. I usually check car gurus, auto trader, and craigslist multiple times a week almost once a day all throughout california, arizona, new mexico, nevada, and I have searched washington near seattle but I have thought about all that rain they get there but I have also heard that near the seattle area even with all the rain there is no humidity and doesnt seem to rust I dont know if that is true or not. Thanks for the info and the boost of confidence to hold out for "the one" and not settle. I have mentally prepared myself for a year to a year and half before finding "the one". I am kicking myself though because last year there was one that was available in northern california and at the time I wasnt ready (i could have made it work) to purchase one just yet but I should have just picked it up. Like you said it might be another 2 years till one pops up again. It was at a Jeep/Chrysler dealership and it had around 95k on it, it was black, and stock oem and it did sell just like they all do within 2 days. It looked clean and well taken care of but sometimes photos are deceiving so who knows.

Only option I regret to this day is the entune head unit.

Screen and computing power was antiquated by 2013 standards.
- Nav tells you to turn after passing the exit
- I believe the screen tech is resistive, not capacitive. (Need someone else to confirm, but it’s reminiscent of pre-iPhone days)
- System resets on itself at 45 minutes driving.
- Some app integration has been sunsetted.

Making a case for the stock radio; it includes Bluetooth Music, BT Phone calls. Radio works. Controls are physical. Will be more desirable 10 years down the road

Overall, your phone will be your map. Your phone will still pair to stock radio. If you can, avoid the screen as it’s useless except backup camera.

Note: only limited editions came with factory JBL speaker upgrade.
