WOW. This Antman guy is out of control!
I was happy for a week when I programed my radio stations. Then I set the time on the clock and jizzed my pants!!

2.) Does anyone think that the green led fog light in the dash can work again (without wiring in an led)? In other words, can we wire the brown or black (now cut and worthless) wire from the fog light wiring harness in the stalk to the relay (the #30 pin)?

To answer your questions:
1- The amber lights are the turn signal- DRL. They won't light up with the parking brake depressed. Check that...
2- You can light the original green LED by grounding the brown wire- BUT- it only works when the fogs are on with the headlights. In other words it works the way it did before the mod. Your fogs will still work whenever you want.
I was hoping someone could figure it out, but so far no luck!
Glad you like the mod- Independent Foggers unite!

Thanks so much for the quick (and correct) answer!! I had the e-brake set while doing some of the wiring. So that was obviously an easy fix! I also plan to ground the brown wire today so I can at least enjoy the fog light led while my low beams are on!

Ground the brown wire attached to the little white plug, not the cut wire coming from the fog switch- just wanted to clear up any confusion.

Hahahaha My wife will kill me if I touch her R32 ... but as long as she lets me drive it every so often.. I can live with that... I love that car! (just don't let my 'Runner hear that).

Well now you did it. Here are some "pics of pics" of my '96 GTI. I promise I won't linger long...
Spax adjustable coilover suspension- big cross-drilled brakes- stainless brake lines- 205/40ZR17's- stress bars- 260' cam/adjustable timing sprocket- exhaust- intake- custom chip- shortshift- debadged- ABT quad headlights- first gen 3 clear taillights imported into US - Momo wheel and stuff- and on and on and on...
It wasn't fast, but I could corner and brake so hard it would make you puke... It was awesome.
I got pulled over on the NJ Turnpike once, and the officer computed my average speed... "Do you realize that you have averaged WELL OVER 100 MPH since the last toll plaza, SIR?" It went very bad after that... I loved that car, but thankfully I survived and grew up.
OK- sorry guys- back to the T4R stuff!!

ANTMAN MOD #D1
I am the proud father of two little girls, 2 & 4. I promised my 4 yr old that I would put her picture of Daddy's truck on the "compuner" so everyone could see... I think she has some mods in her future. " ANTGIRL?"

Just completed the Fog light modification with Antman's great write up. If I lived closer I would definitely buy you a beer. I can now remove my "illegal" DRL/Turn Signal lights. I was using a white Sylvania bulb in place of the amber to get the fog light only effect. Now I have the real thing!
BTW, love the photo above. With all of your successful write ups, I wouldn't be surprised to see someone apply green vinyl to the hood. LOL
Also does anyone know if you can remove the signal lamps/DRLs without removing the front bumper cover?

Today I received my Spidertrax wheel spacers, and installed them. Just got back from a quick 5 mile test drive. I may be nuts ( I do cut into alot of new parts...) but the truck feels completely different now. I expected the slightly wider track to add a tiny bit of stability, and the truck does feel more planted in turns. Thing is, the straightline stability feels much improved- the wander is mostly gone. Anyone else experience this?
I figured this mod would be mostly for aesthetics, but it turns out to be a pleasant surprise! Truck does look much better too (pics soon).
One other note- I originally thought the price to be a little steep- around $220 for both sets shipped, but the quality is definitely there. I think the price is fair- you get what you pay for!

Euro has the charcoal emission filter; US does not. Not sure what other engine bay differences you are referring to.
