I have this radio, range is BAD with the flex antenna, but I bought it as a "spotter radio" and works GREAT for that, we did try the range in the city, straight line with the flex antenna we did about 10-12 block range, that was sttraight line, no mountains/hills in the way lol
I wouldnt buy it new, you can find them used for about $10-50 in great shape. IIRC I paid $25 for mine with an extra battery pack.
